On Wednesday and Thursday, all eyes will once again be on the UNO community. At noon on Nov. 8, we kick off the fourth-annual Wear Black, Give Back. This is an important day for us to demonstrate that, as the people who make this university hum with exploration and discovery, energy and excitement, we are all-in for this university, its research and creative activity, and its students.
I ask you to consider participating in Wear Black, Give Back in two ways:
Share a post on social media to help spread the word. Use the hashtag #WearBlackGiveBack and include this link: https://givingday.unomaha.edu
Make a gift of $5 or more to support the cause you personally find most important at UNO. It may be your program, a scholarship, a student organization, or something else entirely. What’s most important is that you show you’re all in.
I would love your participation – no matter the size of your gift. That’s why I am issuing a challenge for all UNO faculty and staff during Wear Black, Give Back: If we collectively see 600 UNO faculty and staff members make a gift of $5 or more, I will host an ice cream social for all UNO employees.
Additionally, the University of Nebraska Foundation will award a Maverick Grill combo meal voucher to the five employees who encourage the most donors to make a gift during Wear Black, Give Back. To track your donors, use the “Fundraise” button on any Wear Black, Give Back profile page to create a personal link you can use in emails and on social media (see this Scholarships page for example). By using the link you create, you can track how many individuals you encourage to give during our giving day. Find your favorite cause by searching here.
Together, we can accomplish anything. Let us come together once again to show our worldwide audience what it means to be a Maverick. On Wednesday at noon – Wear Black, Give Back.
