Colleagues,
As we prepare to close out the month of October and head into the remaining weeks of 2022, I want to make sure that each of you is taking this time to think about your health and wellness as we prepare to move forward into the new year.
Tomorrow our Human Resources team will be supporting our campus community as the annual NUFlex benefits enrollment period begins and provides our benefits-eligible employees a chance to sign up for or adjust their medical benefits.
One of the great aspects of being an employee of the University of Nebraska System is the tremendous medical insurance, preventative wellness resources, and overall investment in the health of our campus community that allows all of our Maverick community to be taken care of.
Yet, access to resources is only valuable if those resources are taken advantage of. That is why I am making a personal reach out to make sure you mark Oct. 31 through Nov. 18 on your calendar so you can take time to get informed, make important decisions, and enroll in the services and benefits that are right for your situation.
I would strongly encourage you to visit your Firefly account after reading this email and access the “Benefits Participation” section of your Employee Self Service page to learn what your current benefits selections are to begin this process.
You should have already received a notice from our Benefits team and, in the coming days and weeks, you will receive additional information and details about all the options and opportunities available to you in 2023.
One important step will be to take the Health Risk Assessment, which can provide significant added benefits to your plan including access to expanded preventative care dollars, lower deductibles and coinsurance when utilizing “Preferred Tier” providers and hospitals, and $0 co-pays on generic prescriptions through CVS Caremark’s mail service program.
I also hope you will visit the Health and Wellness Fair taking place on November 3, which will feature dozens of local vendors to provide you wellness resources. You can also take advantage of free health screening opportunities during the fair as well, which will help you complete your Health Risk Assessment.
We are a campus that cares for each other and that begins first by caring for ourselves.
Take care, be well, and have a great rest of your weekend.
Sincerely,
Joanne Li, Ph.D., CFA
