Mavericks,
We’ve officially entered the month of November and we already have so much to be thankful for thanks to your continued dedication and support of our Maverick community.
But, as we know, our community stretches beyond our physical campus and into our larger metropolitan area. We are not just the University of Nebraska at Omaha, we are not just UNO, we are Omaha’s university.
With a contribution to the United Way or Give Nebraska you can help neighbors like Kimberly, who arrived at the Stephen Center in 2021 fleeing an abusive relationship and trying to overcome a drug habit to protect her unborn child. Funds raised by a community of individual donors help the Stephen Center, which in turn helped Kimberly find a job and childcare for her daughter Nelah after she was born.
Your contribution could also support community resources like the Metro Area Continuum of Care for the Homeless (MACCH) which is helping patients like Melissa, who has been a patient for more than 10 years and did not have the funds to pay her bills after being diagnosed with kidney cancer and COVID-19. Through MACCH’s help, Melissa was able to pay her rent for four months and get back on her feet.
These are just some of the stories of real people in our community that can benefit from even a small donation that will make a big difference. This year, UNO is looking to surpass $18,000 raised by our community and we are well on our way to doing just that with your help.
