Personal and Academic Advising Support for International Students

International Programs (INPR) in collaboration with New Student and Family Program (NSFP) offers both an online orientation and in-person orientation (22 and 23 August) for incoming international students. Students who live on campus are picked up at the airport (19 and 20 August at specific hours) and taken to university housing. INPR’s Global Diplomat cadre welcomes them, helps them settle in, accompanies them shopping and banking, and to the Henry Doorly Zoo to kick off the semester.

Fulbright Student Program

If you have graduating seniors ready to explore the worlds beyond Nebraska, please encourage them to explore the Fulbright Student Program and apply! Students may propose an independent research undertaking or plan on teaching—some but not all countries require language abilities. Students just need to be U.S. citizens with a 2.5 gpa or higher, along with some relevant experiences and a commitment to the place they want to spend a year. Please encourage students to explore all the possibilities at the Fulbright website and then draft the application (a one page, single-spaced personal statement and 1-2 page statement of grant purpose). Help is available at UNO from unoonsf@unomaha.edu, and the mid-September deadline is approaching!
