National Search Underway for Associate Vice Chancellor for Global Engagement 

The University of Nebraska at Omaha (UNO) is launching a nationwide search for a visionary, global-minded leader to serve as the Associate Vice Chancellor for Global Engagement (AVCGE). This key role will lead visioning, strategic planning, and implementation efforts for campus international activities and initiatives, expanding the future of Global Engagement at UNO.

Does your department have faculty who will soon be retiring? Emeritus recommendations for faculty retiring midyear in December are due November 15.   • National Science Foundation: Engaging with NSF funding Opportunities
    • Dr. Eleanor Sayre, program officer in the Division of Undergraduate Education in the Directorate for STEM Education at the National Science Foundation, will be coming to UNO on November 25.

Holiday Closure: Key Internal Proposal Submission Deadlines

In accordance with the University's Holiday Closure Schedule, the Office of Sponsored Programs will be closed on the following dates:

  • Thanksgiving Break: Thursday, November 28th, and Friday, November 29th, 2024
  • Winter Break: Monday, December 23rd 2024, through Wednesday, January 1, 2025

To ensure timely processing of proposals during these periods, please adhere to the following internal deadlines:

Thanksgiving Break Deadlines:

  • For proposal with deadlines during the Thanksgiving break (November 28th-29th), all NuRamp approval and proposal documentation must be submitted to OSP no later than 5:00PM, Monday, November 18th, 2024.

Winter Break Deadlines:

  • For proposals with deadlines during the Winter Break or within the first 3 business days afterward, all NuRamp approvals and proposal documentation must be submitted to OSP no later than 5:00PM, Tuesday, December 10th, 2024.

Barbara Weitz Community Engagement Center Open House

The Barbara Weitz Community Engagement Center will be celebrating ten years of programming on Monday, November 4, from 2 – 4 PM.  CEC partner organizations as well as UNO programs will be presenting virtual reality demonstrations, flight simulations, poetry readings, art activities, hot cocoa and cookies, as well as tours of the different resources offered to all community nonprofit organizations.
