Mavericks,
I wanted to take a moment to congratulate you on all that you do to support our students and this thriving university community. As you might have seen in the Maverick Daily on Monday, UNO reached new highs in the U.S. News & World Report Best Colleges rankings in several categories, including National Universities, Top Public Schools, Social Mobility, and Undergraduate Business and Computer Science Programs.
Climbing in the rankings is no small feat. Doing so during a global pandemic is nothing short of monumental.
In fact, many of our peer institutions did not see such increases. Among our peers, only the University of Missouri campuses in St. Louis and Kansas City made similar leaps while other area institutions stayed relatively flat or even saw decreases in standing.
Kudos to you, our faculty and staff. Your tireless efforts not only provide an exceptional educational experience inside and outside of the classroom for our students, but also to be their support structure, their biggest advocates, and their mentors. You should take great pride in this recognition.
Yet rankings are not why we do what we do. Our focus, our top priority, and our number one constituent should always be our students. And if we remain laser-focused on ensuring the success of our students, we will see our community, our state, and even our nation take note of the incredible work happening here at UNO.
I am honored and immensely proud to work alongside all of you in supporting our community of Mavericks. Thank you for all you do. Onward and upward.
Sincerely,
Joanne Li, Ph.D., CFA
