CENTER FOR FACULTY EXCELLENCE | DECEMBER '21-JANUARY '22
A chance for us to say thank you and to let you know about professional development opportunities for spring.
During the past 10 days, the Center for Faculty Excellence (CFE) hosted “coffee carts” in eight locations around campus. Thank you to those of you who took time to share a cup of coffee or cider, have a friendly conversation, and give us your feedback. Students who stopped by could give a shout out to faculty who had made a positive impact on them this semester. As the students filled out comment cards, we heard inspirational stories of your impact on students. Thank you for inviting us into your spaces and for your work with students. Your efforts are noticed and make a difference!
CFE looks forward to continuing to support you. Use the links below to register now for a slate of opportunities coming up this spring. Based on your feedback, we’ve updated our previous series, Faculty Intention -> Student Retention, and added three new workshops focusing on large classes. We will also offer several incentivized DEAI-related workshops. Other opportunities you can begin to plan into your spring semester include TABS and UCAT funding applications. Finally, CFE partners with Digital Learning to support part-time instructors through orientations in December and January. Of course, part-time faculty are invited to attend all CFE workshops and participate in TABS as well.
See you in January!

Upcoming Workshops
Full descriptions of the workshops are available by clicking on the links to each session.
Join the Center for Faculty Excellence and Office of Digital Learning for one or both sessions of Part-Time Faculty Orientation. These unique sessions will include a brief overview of resources available to faculty on the University of Nebraska at Omaha’s campus as well as an overview of UNO’s online learning platform, Canvas. These sessions are available for all new and returning full- and part-time faculty and instructors.
TABS provides all UNO faculty (including teaching assistants) with an opportunity to assess pedagogical strengths and weaknesses by requesting mid-semester student evaluations. All assessments are confidential and free.
