Dear Mavericks,
This past year has been full of exciting change, growth, and accomplishments at UNO. And what better way to wrap up a such an amazing year than with the celebration of our final UNO Class of 2022 at the December Commencement.
To my colleagues, thank you for your commitment, dedication, and relentless focus on student performance that guided 1,093 students in their journey to their degrees and certificates. For many, this achievement will propel their careers and strengthen their social and economic mobility for their families. I am so proud of the amazing work that we do every day.
And, students, thank you also for the hard work you’ve put into your studies, your service projects, and the work that has brought you to this moment. Watching you grow in your journey is always so inspiring. No matter if you are one of our recent graduates from this December Commencement, a working professional who has joined us to pursue career advancement, or a member of our newest first-year class, you have done something remarkable by investing in your future.
If there is one thing that 2022 has reaffirmed for me, it is that success does not belong to any of us individually. It requires the support and encouragement of our community. Whether it’s our peers, our mentors, our personal champions, or our families, we are lifted by others who are then lifted by our success, as well.
So, as you are enjoying a well-deserved break from your studies or planning your next steps as a Maverick graduate, I just wanted to say thank you, congratulations, and that I hope your holidays are filled with joy and meaningful time with your loved ones.
