Welcome to April!

Summer and Fall course shells should now be available for you to begin working in. We recommend waiting to import content into Fall courses until the VidGrid link replacements are complete in Mid-June (for more information on VidGrid link replacement, see the YuJa section further down in the newsletter), but if you are needing to get started on them early, or on summer courses, the following resources may be helpful:

  • Importing an Entire Course in Canvas
  • Importing Individual Items in Canvas

As always, we offer a variety of resources to help answer any questions that you might have:

  • Drop-in our Virtual Support Room, open 9-4, Monday-Friday
  • Come see us in Eppley Admin Building, Room 113 from 9-4, Monday-Friday
  • Book a 30-minute meeting with an instructional designer or technologist on our bookings website.

Canvas updates

Submitting Assignments on Behalf of a Student

Canvas now allows instructors to submit a file upload assignment on behalf of a student in the Gradebook. The submission includes the timestamp and who submitted the assignment. Additionally, the instructor can submit multiple files at a time for a single student and submit beyond the availability date. This update allows instructors the option to support students in situations that need an alternative means of submission.

UPDATE

We are two months away from our contract ending with VidGrid. In preparation, YuJa has started to replace VidGrid links and videos with YuJa links and videos in all courses EXCEPT for the spring 2023 semesters. Starting May 8th, making new videos in VidGrid will be disabled and link/video replacement for Spring 2023 courses will begin.

NOTE: if you have VidGrid videos created on web pages or outside of Canvas courses, you'll want to ensure you switch out the VidGrid videos before the end of June to ensure it is accessible for everyone. For help with how to access YuJa Links and Embed Codes, check out this YuJa Tech Tip Video.
