As the fall semester comes to an end and the spring semester creeps up, the Office of Digital Learning wants to help you tie up loose ends and prepare for the spring semester! In the December edition of "Be In The Know" we give you the gift of information, including:

The Office of Digital Learning will be closed starting Friday, December 24th through Sunday, January 2nd. We hope everyone will get to enjoy the much deserved time off; we will see you January 3rd to hit the ground running!
Tech Tips of the Month
This month we are sharing two tech tips to improve your efficiency: importing final grades from Canvas to MavLINK and updating due dates quickly in a new Canvas course (after you've imported a previous course). Don't forget written directions and other information about final grades can be found on the Registrar's website, "How to Submit Grades?" Click the images below to learn about each of the tech tips.
Canvas Updates
As we finish up the fall semester, we wanted to show you Canvas Utilities, our new system that will allow you to quickly and easily extend a course date and merge courses. To learn about the new system and how to use it, click on the associated images below!
The Office of Digital Learning is participating in one December workshop with the help of other departments around campus. Check out the third Universal Design Workshop we are running with the Center for Faculty Excellence and Accessibility Services!
Building Your Toolkit for Inclusive Learning
Thursday Dec. 9th from 9:00-10:30a.m.
Join CFE, Digital Learning, and Accessibility Services in a workshop based around creating inclusive learning in your classroom. This session will feature guest speaker, Librarian Craig Finlay. Join us as he gives tips on how to access free, accessible content through the web and library website!
The Office of Digital Learning is looking for faculty members to share advice and tips for teaching online during a workshop series titled, "Tips for Teaching Online: Practical Advice from Instructors" in the spring semester. Faculty members who lead a session will receive a $100 stipend.
In January, the Office of Digital Learning is hosting an academic application workshop series. This series will focus on key academic applications used at UNO including Canvas, VidGrid, Zoom, Akindi, and TurnItIn.
The Office of Digital Learning will be offering the popular 3-week Humanizing Online courses in the spring semester including a NEW third course dedicated to creating an engaging and inclusive online class. Faculty who participate and complete the course(s) will receive a $300 stipend per course.

Feb. 7-27 | Continuing the Momentum to the End
Mar. 7-27 | Creating an Engaging, Equitable, and Inclusive Online Class
Our evening drop-in hours are back on Mondays and Tuesdays for the month of January! We are here to help answer your questions as you prepare for and begin the spring semester. Feel free to stop by our virtual support room from 4:00-7:00p.m. on Jan. 10-11, 18, 24-25, 31, & Feb. 1.
