You made it; you're almost through another semester! We wanted to give you all a round of applause as you finish up another tough academic semester. UNO wouldn't be what it is without you, and we want you all to know it! We hope you're able to spend some time relaxing over the holiday break and start the spring semester strong in January! In this newsletter you'll find information about a new Canvas feature, tech tips to help you get started preparing for spring, and information about upcoming and new YuJa workshops being offered!
Digital Learning Holiday Hours
We will be here to help you through December 22nd, so don't hesitate to stop into our virtual drop-in room, or schedule an appointment with us through our bookings website. We will be taking time off from December 23-January 2nd for the Holiday shutdown. If you have a pressing issue, you can email us at uno.its.digitallearning@unomaha.edu and someone will get back to you when we have time.
We will be back in the office January 3rd to help with all your course needs! In addition to our normal hours, we will be offering extended drop-insfrom 4-7 on the following Mondays and Tuesdays in January:

YuJa Tip of the Month
Last month, we shared a video on how to create using Browser Capture in YuJa. This month, we wanted to share how you can create a video using Software Capture on your computer! Click the button below for a brief overview on how to use YuJa Software Capture and how to get started.
To help with the transition from VidGrid to YuJa, Digital Learning will be hosting a variety of YuJa trainings. In December, we will be offering YuJa Basics and Video Quizzing with YuJa workshops; starting in January, look for workshops on Video Editing in YuJa, in addition to YuJa Basics and Video Quizzing with YuJa. Explanations of the workshops and upcoming dates are listed below.
YuJa Basics
This session will introduce the new video platform and deliver an overview of the features in order for you to get started creating your own academic videos. Upcoming workshops are listed below. For a list of all spring YuJa Basics workshop dates and to register, click on the button below.
In this session participants will learn how to create and distribute videos with embedded quiz questions and quizzes where students receive a grade based on the percentage of the video watched as well as how video quiz grades seamlessly feed from YuJa into the Canvas Gradebook. YuJa offers video editing capabilities and allows you to improve your media content. In this session participants will learn how to use the video editing tools in YuJa. January workshop dates are listed below. For all spring Editing video workshop dates and to register, click on the button below.

Starting a Humanized Course from Week '0'
Starting January 2nd!
Our popular Humanizing Online Series is back! Join us for this 6-week course that examines why and how to humanize online learning. In a community with your peers, you will be introduced to topics of teaching presence and social presence. You will be encouraged to step outside your comfort zone to create content with tools that will infuse your students' learning with your warm presence and unlock authentic assessment options. Faculty who participate and complete the course will receive a $300 stipend.
Interested in learning effective strategies for developing and managing an online class? Join us for our Foundations of Teaching Online course! This course explores the impact of instructional pedagogy on student learning and how implementing simple strategies can help improve student achievement, motivation, and engagement.
This 3-month course is asynchronous and has a rolling start date. This course is available for all faculty except those who have completed Foundations of Teaching Online in the past. Participants receive a $1,000 stipend for successfully completing all discussions and assignments. Register below!
