NAME CHANGE
The Digital Learning workshops and professional development courses offered are now known as Future-Focused EDU. The new name better represents the expanded offerings and future-focused vision of the Division of Innovative and Learning Centric Initiatives. So when you see Future-Focused EDU in MavDaily, on the UNO events page and other places, please know it is the same great team of people on the other side!

Join us for a Gradescope Basics session! In this session, you will learn how to use Gradescope for the delivery and grading of a paper-based assessment. You’ll be walked through the process from creating the assessment, scanning it into Gradescope, grading the assignment with AI grouping and rubrics, publishing the results for students to view, and posting the grades back to Canvas.
With a staggering 50% of students expressing a desire to engage in course activities via their mobile devices (Wiley, 2021), it’s vital to explore how our course design can either empower or hinder their mobile learning experience. Join us to gain insight into best practices, potential pitfalls, and what the mobile experience is like.
Join us for a workshop series on AI in Academia! Explore how faculty members, Matt Hale, Thang Tran, and William Kramer, are harnessing the Power of AI to revolutionize their classrooms and work. STRATEGIES FOR SUCCESSFUL REGULAR AND SUBSTANTIVE INTERACTION (RSI)
Monday, March 4 from 2-3pm
As the Higher Learning Commission (HLC) continues to set high standards for regular and substantive interaction (RSI) in online classes, it’s crucial for faculty to gain an understanding of what this interaction entails and strategies they can deploy to meet expectations. Implementing RSI in your course is known to engage students and improve their success; meaning fewer DFW rates and higher student learning outcomes! By the end of the workshop, you’ll be equipped with innovative ideas to enhance your teaching and a newfound confidence in your teaching approach!
Mark your calendars for our annual Digital Learning Showcase on Wednesday May 1st, from 2-4pm in Criss Library.At this year's showcase, we will highlight the innovative strategies that UNO faculty are using when they teach online or with technology, and award the 2024 Outstanding Innovation in Teaching with Technology Award!
NOTE: Although this is an in-person gathering, Zoom functionality will be available to accommodate those who are not local.
PRESENTER PROPOSALS
Submit your proposal by Friday, April 5!
Digital Learning is looking for faculty to present at our showcase; if you're implementing innovative technology and techniques into the online or in-person classroom, we encourage you to submit a proposal!
If you wish to be a presenter, please submit a topic proposal by selecting the button below. Feel free to submit multiple proposals if you have more than one topic to share. Faculty presenters will receive a $100 stipend for their time.
We are now accepting nominations for the the 2024 Outstanding Innovation in Teaching with Technology Award. This award honors faculty who have implemented outstanding innovative teaching approaches, shown to increase student learning, engagement and success. All current full-time and part-time UNO faculty are eligible to be nominated. Nominations from current or former students, faculty members, staff members, or administrators (chair/director, dean) will be accepted; individuals can also self-nominate.
The Digital Learning team offers individual department training. We offer workshops and training on a variety of topics including Fair Use, Accessibility, Copyright, Gamification, features within Canvas, YuJa and more! If you're interested, email innovate@unomaha.edu, and we can set something up for you!
PROGRAM TUNE-UP
Digital Learning/ILCI is now offering a new opportunity for academic programs to comprehensively review and refresh their online/flexible courses and programs. A program tune-up may be especially useful for programs with longstanding online degree offerings, programs considering curriculum changes, programs updating their strategic plans, or programs preparing for an upcoming Academic Program Review. If you’re interested in learning more about tune-up grant possibilities in your program, please see the Program Tune-Up webpage or reach out to Dan Hawkins, Director of Online Development, at dhawkins@unomaha.edu.
