Starting November 5, Zoom will require users to have a minimum version of Zoom [version 5.8.6] on their computers and mobile devices to use the software; new minimum versions will be required every 3 months from here on out. More information can be found on the Zoom Lifecycle Policy page. If you need assistance with ensuring your Zoom client is up to date, contact your college IT support or the Help desk at support@nebraska.edu.
UPDATED CANVAS NAVIGATION
To help ease navigation in Canvas courses, Spring 2023 course shells will feature minimized navigation bar, where items not commonly used will be hidden automatically. If you need hidden items to appear visible, you can do so by going to navigation under settings and making them visible. Check out this Canvas Community Page if needed.
TECHNOLOGY TIPS
Spring 2023 courses are now live! To help you prep your courses, we wanted to share some tech tips you might find beneficial. Note: if the changing assignment due dates in bulk doesn't look like it does in the video, check out this formatting change video and steps you can take to remedy the change.
Universal Design Workshop Series

Reflection and Self-Assessment: Powerful Tools for Student Learning

Reflection and self-assessment are two tools that can give you and your students insight into their learning experience, including where they are struggling, what they are understanding, and how they are connecting with the material. Our next installment of Tips for Teaching Online is here! If you’re planning to teach a course during January session, you may have lots of questions about successful course design and teaching strategies. Join UNO faculty, Stephanie Larsen, Casey Reisberg, and Lisa Scherer, along with the Digital Learning team to hear, as well as share advice on teaching online during UNO's 3-week January session.
If you'd like one-on-one help, individuals can schedule a YuJa walkthrough with a member of the Digital Learning team through our bookings website or stop by our Virtual Drop-in room with your quick questions!
Foundations of Teaching Online
Start at any time!
Interested in learning effective strategies for developing and managing an online class? Join us for our Foundations of Teaching Online course! This course explores the impact of instructional pedagogy on student learning and how implementing simple strategies can help improve student achievement, motivation, and engagement.
This 3-month course is asynchronous and has a rolling start date. This course is available for all faculty except those who have completed Foundations of Teaching Online in the past. Participants receive a $1,000 stipend for successfully completing all discussions and assignments. Register below!
