Mavericks,
What an incredible Fall 2021 semester we’ve had so far. Each interaction I’ve had with students is a reminder of how important is to look after and support each other so we can maintain this incredible on-campus, in-person atmosphere.
Before you take time for a much-deserved Fall Break to relax and recharge, I wanted to share some information, tips, and resources with you that will keep us on track and allow us to finish the semester strong.
Review Fall Wellness Tips
The Nebraska Medicine UNO Health Center has helped compile resources that will keep you healthy and safe as we welcome the fall season. A new Fall Wellness at UNO article has student, faculty, and staff-specific information as well as seasonal wellness tips.
Wear a Mask and Avoid Large Gatherings
As you already know, masks are required indoors on UNO’s campus for all students, faculty, staff, and visitors regardless of vaccination status. I encourage you to wear a mask indoors while away from campus and avoid large gatherings. This will help keep you safe and limit the spread of COVID-19 on campus when you return.
Get Vaccinated and Explore Your Booster Shot Eligibility
Vaccination is your most powerful tool in our ongoing fight against COVID-19, and it’s never too late to get your COVID-19 vaccine. Please explore vaccination options in your area during the break or make time to visit an on-campus vaccination clinic on Oct. 20 or Oct. 27, each from 11 A.M. to 2 P.M. in the mobile clinic near Criss Library. Vaccine clinic and booster shot information are available in the UNO News Center.
Get Your Flu Shot
Each year the risk for influenza infections return as summer turns to fall. Vaccination against the flu helps you stay healthy and protects those around you from influenza. And, because the flu and COVID-19 have similar symptoms, the Nebraska Medicine UNO Health Center is highly recommending all students, faculty, and staff receive the flu vaccine to prevent respiratory illness on campus. Flu shots are now available by appointment, Monday through Friday between 8 A.M. and 4 P.M., at the Nebraska Medicine UNO Health Center by calling 402.554.2374.
Connect, Take Care, Get Help
It’s okay to not be okay. Mental wellness is a journey and you never have to walk it alone. If you or someone you know is struggling, UNO is ready to help.
Take some time to relax, stay healthy, and come back Monday ready to do amazing things this semester.
