Mavericks,
This weekend a devastating storm, Hurricane Ida, hit the Gulf Coast and caused massive damage to Louisiana and Mississippi, particularly along the coastal cities.
Even today the full scope of the damage and effects on these communities is not known and may not be known for days and weeks to come. However, as we learn more about the impact of the storm, it provides us an opportunity to find ways to support each other.
In my time in Florida, I was a personal witness to the impact hurricanes like this can have. I was also witness to the power of the human spirit and the importance of having a community of family, friends, and neighbors behind you.
We might not be physical neighbors to those states impacted by the storm, but many members of our Maverick community have ties to this region. With this in mind, I ask all of us to be kind to each other, offer support to those who need it, and take care of ourselves, as well, in the coming days.
I encourage anyone in need of support to visit our Connect. Take Care. Get Help. page to learn more about our wide range of campus support resources.
Let us all work together to support each other.
