Hello Mavericks!
The thing I have come to admire most about UNO during my time as chancellor-elect is there is an energy that draws people to this campus. The 1,700 graduates who received degrees in May came to UNO from 53 countries and 37 states. Ask any of these newly minted alumni who chose UNO as the launchpad for their future and I’m confident they would agree.
That energy – what I have come to know as the Maverick Spirit – is what inspired me to pursue the opportunity to be a part of this community many months ago. It is also why I am eager to hit the ground running today as your chancellor to feed this energy, nurture it, and share it with the world.
I have learned so much over the past 30 days listening to students, faculty, staff, leadership, alumni, and this university’s many proud community partners, but this does not mean I will stop trying to learn more – I am a student at heart.
I will continue to wear my running shoes so I can get around campus quickly and make detours to stop and chat as we cross paths. If you have a question, ask! If you have an idea, I want to hear it! If you have a story, let’s walk and talk! It is my deep belief that there is no limit to what we can accomplish here if we learn from each other.
As I get to know you better, you can get to know me and keep up with my adventures on Twitter at @UNO_Chancellor.
Let’s move quickly, purposefully, and build something amazing together.
Sincerely,
Jo Li
UNO Chancellor
