The Hubble constant tells us how fast the Universe is expanding. There was disagreement about its value for years. Dr. Woolf will discuss the origin of this disagreement, the resolution, and how science should work vs. how it really works. We'll also have free pizza!
Remembrance for Raymond Guenther
On Monday, April 1st, friends, family, and former colleagues in the UNO Physics Department gathered to remember Physics Professor Emeritus Dr. Raymond Guenther who passed away in December. Dr. Guenther served UNO Physics from 1969-2012. Dr. Guenther left the physics program with a sizable gift to support faculty and students, with more information to come.

HS Teacher Workshop

We will be hosting an American Modeling Teachers Association workshop for High School teachers on topics in E&M this summer. Local teachers use the following code for a 100% discount: 24OMAHA. Graduate credit will be available. Pre-service teachers are also welcome.
Physics majors Kate Chain, Dylan Herrmann, and Julio Navas received Honorable Mention for their poster at the Research and Creative Activity Fair. Their poster was titled "Solving Two-Dimensional Schrödinger Equation for a Double Well Potential Using Analytical and Variational Methods.” They were advised by physics professor Dr. Wai-Ning Mei.
