This month has been one for the record books, and I mean that literally.
Recently we announced that you helped us shatter our record for raising money in support of our students and our campus in just the third year of our Wear Black Give Back campaign. And now, I am writing to you with an opportunity to take that same Maverick Spirit and put it towards supporting our community.
Beginning today, we are launching our 2022 United Away and Nebraska Gives Campaigns, which will run through Friday, Nov. 11. During this time, you will have several opportunities to give back, including a new one-stop portal where you can use your NUID number to make an easy one-time or recurring donation through a variety of options including payroll deduction, which is available for our benefits-eligible employees.
There will also be an opportunity this year to round up any purchases you make at the UNO Bookstore, Maverick Den, Library Café, or the Milo Bail Student Center Food Court. Be sure to ask if you can round up to support the United Way if you visit these locations any time from now until Nov. 4.
I also wanted to celebrate your contributions from last year's campaign as I was recently notified by the United Way that we were among the top 100 fundraisers! This year I am challenging us to improve on that effort and raise $18,000 for these important causes. I know our Maverick community can rise to the challenge! All the details you need about this year’s campaign and ways you can support with your donation can be found on our campaign website.
Once again, I am incredibly and consistently in awe of the passion for compassion our Maverick community continually shows day in and day out. Thank you in advance for everything you’ve done and will continue to do for our campus and our metro community in the coming weeks.
Sincerely,
Joanne Li, Ph.D., CFA
Chancellor
