The Spring 2026 exhibition, Justice and Hope, explores how artists Samuel Bak, Dinh Q. Lê, Mladen Miljanović, Serge Nitegeka, and Maja Ruznic use intertwining personal narrative and historical facts to commemorate conflicts and denounce humanity’s inability to forgo violence. The exhibition poses questions on reconciliation and how we might learn from history to build better futures.

Museum Spotlight
Meet Jane Knudsen – Assistant Gallery Manager I graduated from UNO in 2024 with a bachelor's in art history. My concentration was museum studies, but I liked studying 20th century American modernism and 19th century Naturalism. As an Assistant Gallery Manager, I’m lucky enough to have so many opportunities to interact with art, write about it, and really delve into history. It’s so neat to be able to help put up a new show and then formulate a tour around it. I believe every work of art holds some manner of significance and value, and it’s so great to see every work that goes up in this museum and dig into why it has captivated people since its conception. I enjoy writing fiction (horror and romance), watching and reading about movies, and knitting.
Favorite Bak:The Wall of Secrets is a great piece. It’s very warm, but also eerie. It's like one of those images that’s made to be unsettling because you can’t recognize any of the items pictured. I love the color palette as well—the warm, dark browns that feel glossy but also scuffed. There’s a major feeling of an antique library or cabinet of curiosities here, and I’m sure I could look at it for hours. We haven’t had it in a show thus far, but I’m excited to see how we use it.
