Exciting new campus partnerships and opportunities!
The Center for Faculty Excellence welcomes the opportunity to partner with faculty to promote professional development and support career advancement. This spring, we’ve also been supporting a pilot project – CliftonStrengths for Staff and Strengths coaching for staff – and as you’ll read below, we’ve also been partnering with Student Success on several projects.
CFE has partnered with Student Success to compile answers to frequently asked questions regarding how faculty members can assist students who have experienced trauma or are experiencing difficult circumstances. Topics include:
During our winter coffee cart, we received feedback that UNO doesn't have an easily accessible list of acronyms/initialisms for new campus community members. We are asking for your help to compile a list of acronyms/initialisms on UNO's campus to help everyone navigate our campus. For each unique definition you provide you'll name will be entered into a drawing for some UNO swag!
The Spark of Learning by Sarah Rose Cavanagh has been chosen to be next year's book for the CFE sponsored Community of Practice (CoP) book club led by Dr. Shari DeVeney. Email us if you would be interested in joining this CoP so that we can plan accordingly when placing our order for this book and notify you of the first meeting date next year.
It’s time to start planning for January Session 2023! Faculty interested in teaching a Global Course with domestic or international travel this upcoming January should fill out the initial interest form for UNO Education Abroad by April 15th. For more information, contact Emily Krueger in the UNO Study Abroad office
CFE would like to thank all campus community members who attended a Faculty Search Training during the past academic year. Due to your time and dedication, 135 people have successfully completed this important training. To serve on a search committee for a faculty position, committee members are required to have completed this training within the past two years. If you would like to check on the status of your training, please email us.
You are invited to help celebrate and recognize the 2020-2022 Equity and Inclusion Certificate cohort on April 28th from 3-5 pm (remarks and participant recognition at 3:30pm) at the Criss Library, first floor. You will have the opportunity to have informal conversations with participants regarding their experiences and learn more about their projects.
CoP and FLF facilitators should complete report forms no later than Friday, April 15th. If a report needs to be submitted after this date due to a group's final meeting, names of all participants and the date the final report will be submitted is due by April 15th to ensure all CoP/FLF members will receive professional development funds for their participation. If you have any questions, please email Kimber Harkins.
Eligible full-time faculty and staff who attended/participated in any of CFE's opportunities for professional development funds will be receiving an email before the end of the semester informing them of the funds they accrued this academic year. Funds accrued this year become eligible for use after July 1st. These funds may be banked over multiple years, but should generally be used within three years of accrual.
As always, we encourage you to reach out to the Center for Faculty Excellence with any questions or suggestions during the semester. If you have colleagues or work with part-time faculty that you think would be interested in receiving our newsletter, please forward this message on to them. If this message was forwarded to you and you would like to start receiving our newsletters, we encourage you to sign up for our mailing list.
