International Student & Scholar Services

Dear Students and Scholars,

We are writing to provide an update regarding the Department of Homeland Security (DHS) final rule related to Duration of Status (D/S). The final rule was to take effective September 15, 2026.

On September 14, 2026, U.S. District Judge F. Dennis Saylor IV issued a nationwide order pausing the Duration of Status rule from going into effect on September 15.

This preliminary injunction does not reverse the new rule, however, it will pause the implementation of the new rule indefinitely while the court case is being heard in the U.S. District Court.

We are continuing to monitor developments as additional guidance becomes available. Contact International Student and Scholar Services with any questions.
