UNO’s Career Services Officeprovides tremendous support to students related to career exploration, resumes/cover letters, interviewing, and internships. It offers students the opportunity to meet with a career advisor and learn how to use Handshake – a platform to browse employment listings; apply for local, national, and on-campus jobs; and view upcoming career fairs and events.
To help you and your students learn about the resources available to them, request a class presentation by a Career Services professional. You can also learn more by joining the Campus Career Council or signing up for your own Handshake account.
UNO holds the Community Engagement Classification from the CarnegieFoundation. Faculty can benefit from and contribute to community engagement in many ways, and students can even earn a Community Engaged Scholars Transcript Designation.
Here are a few possible ways for you to tap into UNO’s community engagement resources:
Engaged Research – Resources are available that will help you redefine your scholarly work through reciprocal partnerships within the UNO community.
If you haven’t already done so, visit UNO’s Community Engagement Center (CEC) and learn more about the many community partners who call the CEC home (i.e., Education Rights Counsel, Epilepsy Foundation, Inclusive Communities, Nebraska Writers Collective, Juvenile Justice Institute, and many more). The Maverick Food Pantry is also located in the CEC.
