Dear Mavericks,
News of disasters is never easy to receive, especially when we feel a deep connection to the region. Here at the University of Nebraska at Omaha, the Maverick family joins in mourning the loss of life and devastation of the massive earthquake and its aftermath that have impacted Java and the surrounding areas within Indonesia.
Events such as these remind us that community and support are of utmost importance, and that we must take care of one another and ourselves. To those in our Maverick family who may be grieving, know that you are not alone. As you connect with each other and any students, faculty, or staff who may have connections in the region, please remember that your Maverick community is here to support you.
For students, know that our Counseling and Psychological Services Office (CAPS) office is available if you need access to mental health support, and for our faculty and staff, there are mental health resources available to you through the Faculty and Staff Employee Assistance Program (FSEAP).
Now is the time to band together in solidarity and support each other. If there is anything that UNO can do to help at this time, please let us know.
Sincerely,
Joanne Li, Ph.D., CFA
